NuVant Systems, based at the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana is about to release a new fuel cell test station called EZlab.
According to the company, the station aims to make it easier for scientists to compare the performance of electrode components in fuel cells, which produce energy from fuels like alcohols, hydrogen and hydrocarbons.
Until now, EZlab has been tested by the Northeastern University in Boston and University of Notre Dame. “EZlab is modular and can interface with a variety of fuel cells, including hydrogen- or alcohol-fueled cells. All the components are on the front panel, not hidden inside like other test stations, which will maximize ease of use for educational labs,” said Smotkin, a fuel cell expert.
The new fuel cell station enables comprehensive analysis of fuel cell electrode components, where chemical reactions occur to generate energy. EZlab test stations are manufactured and assembled at the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana.
