Have you ever felt the rush of getting from a dead stop to 100 kph (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds?  Turns out, even Ferrari owners haven’t.  Future owner’s of Rimac’s Concept_One soon will, thanks to a €10 million investment in the Croatian car maker.

Initially dismissed as vaporware, the 1,088 horsepower Concept_One is ready for commercialization.  26-year old founder and CEO Mate Rimac is ecstatic. “We are delighted that we have established a close collaboration with international investors who appreciate our value and potential. The funding will enable us to launch new products to the market and increase our production capacity,” says Rimac.

The car was able to leave a Ferrari in the dust during a roadshow in the Middle East last year.  With the oil sheiks finally taking alternative energies seriously, it wouldn’t be so far fetched to see Lambourginis and Ferraris in Dubai replaced with Teslas, and now even Rimacs.

The nascent carmaker is set to produce 88 units of the super car next year, at US$1M apiece.  With an auspicious number like that, Chinese super tycoons are bound to add to the list of potential buyers.

For the rest of us who don’t have that kind of money to go around, we can probably only drive the car in our dreams, or maybe in an upcoming version of NFS.
