As a world leader in wind energy technology, Denmark is working on developing larger turbines. In this respect, the National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy at the Technical University of Denmark plans to create an improved testing center.

The new and more elaborate center is meant to test large wind turbines, almost twice larger than normal sized turbines. The center, located in Osterild, Denmark is expected to be completed in 2011 and will also test how turbines work in different conditions.

The Riso laboratory is currently doing tests on 500 feet turbines in a center located in Hovsore. The test center is planning to compare the functioning of the turbines on the two locations, Hovsore and Osterild, based on the information on wind turbines in different environments and sizes.
