Remember the Eliica electric car? This ugly 2.4-ton Japanese vehicle is shown how it does a Porsche 911 Turbo. The Porsche hangs with the Eliica up to 92 km/h, but it’s left more than 2 seconds behind when the EV reaches 150 km/h.
The difference besides the obvious acceleration? You charge the Eliica with $1 and the Porsche with maybe $20 for this drag race. Watch the video below (of course, they could have made the Eliica more sexy).
Prototype models such as the Eliica are always extreme and only show the cars’ and technologies’ limitations, but they always find their way into the consumer market sooner or later.
