Tesla Model S Has What It Takes, Where’s Everyone Else?

According to research done by research company Strategic Vision, the Tesla Model S has the best “perceived quality” of any automobile on the market.

Asking nearly 40,000 vehicle owners about their vehicles, Strategic Vision tallied up the numbers to determine which vehicles seemed to be the best in every category, from small cars to luxury cars, including alternative-fuel versions of everything. While the best luxury brand was perceived to be a tie between Audi and Jaguar, the best model overall was the Tesla Model S. According to a statement by Strategic Vision senior vice-president Christopher Chaney, “Tesla built a vehicle that generated love in attributes that were most important to segment buyers.”

Chaney went on to say, “Tesla isn’t an electric vehicle that just has good features, but instead it’s a luxurious sports sedan that has true innovation, rocket-like speed and drive feeling, that happens to be an electric vehicle.” I believe that this is the point that other automakers are missing. True, there are a couple of electric vehicles on the market, other than the Tesla Model S, but building one that people actually want to drive seems to be the trick. Some electric vehicles, such as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV or Renault Twingo EV, are simply underwhelming, and their sales or interest numbers are less than flattering.

The Tesla Model S, on the other hand, performs like a sports car, has the capacity of a small SUV, is one of the safest vehicles on the road, and is one of the most innovative vehicles on the planet. Also, being an electric vehicle is just one more box-tick on the list of desirable automobile traits. While it may be easy to see why the Tesla Model S is perceived to be one of the best vehicles on the road, we wonder what’s taking other automakers so long to catch up. Clearly, Tesla Motors has left everyone else in the dust, the ultra-low-emissions dust that only a Tesla Model S can kick up.
