RAV4 EV Revived by Toyota and Tesla Motors Venture

Because Tesla and Toyota made an agreement this spring to build an electric car, everybody thought that the joint venture between them will result in a small car being built, like we’ve been used to – the Prius, the Roadster, the Yaris etc.

Toyota had already built an electric version of their RAV4 in the 1990s, and seemingly they’re still on the roads of California, fact which pleased electric car fans. Unlike GM, they didn’t trash their babies and let them run for as long as they could.

The new RAV4 electric, now the product of Tesla Motors and Toyota, will be unveiled at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, coming up in November. Let alone the fact that the Japanese company will also unveil their much-expected plug-in version of the Prius and will price it some $13,000 below the Volt.

It’s now known yet what driving range will have the RAV4 EV, because it’s heavier than a small car and electrics just don’t need heavy stuff to carry around in proof-of-concept prototypes. We’ll just have to wait and see.
