Recently, Thomas Weber, Head of R&D at Mercedes, said that the upcoming Euro 6 is expected to skyrocket the prices of diesel cars. This is because the automakers are forced to use expensive technology in making the new fine injectors and filters, and this is going to be felt in the customers' pockets.

Mercedes Says They Tried EV Battery Swapping and It Didn't Work

I happen to be an electric car enthusiast. I like the idea of driving clean and having silent power underneath me. It's been talked about project Better Place lately, as being a system who uses a battery swapping infrastructure. IBM and the Danish government have involved in such a project and found it reliable. Mercedes, on the other hand, says they have tested the system in the 70s and found out it's not so safe.

Mercedes Benz BlueZERO – A Trio of Green Concepts

Mercedes-Benz announced the BlueZERO concept which will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show, in January. Three different models will be available, all based on the Class B model, including the fully electric BlueZERO E-Cell featuring a lithium-ion battery that offers it an autonomy of up to 200 km, a 100 kW electric engine (equivalent to 136 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 320 Nm.

Mercedes S400: True Hybrid Car, or Just Greenwashing?

Is this "greenwashing" phenomena affecting everybody lately? I understand we're in the middle of a hybrid-crusade, and beginning with all the movie stars and all celebrities, everybody wants to produce and buy a hybrid car, but to bring out a hybrid car only to stick the "hybrid" green stamp on it seems a little overwhelmingly green-washing style.
