Scientists have discovered a way to scale up perovskite solar cells so that they can remain stable, and allow to be tested for their efficiency in the same way as traditional solar cells. Perovskite material has shown all the needed potential to replace silicon in traditional solar cells. It is seen as the cheaper alternative, which can […]

Perovskite solar cells are considered to have great potential in producing energy, but researchers at Northwestern University and the US Department of Energy claim that these solar cells can provide a return on investment after only three months. This is ten times faster than current cells, which are made of silicon. Solar panels do leave […]

Perovskites is currently all the rage in solar cell technology and researchers have found a way to make them even more efficient. Perovskite is a type of mineral formed in the earths mantle and is an excellent light harvester. Manufacturers are particularly interested in using perovskites in solar cell development as it is cheaper to […]

Currently, Volkswagen electric vehicles, as well as every other electric vehicle, use conventional lithium-ion battery technology. On the energy storage level, practically the only thing that separates the Volkswagen electric vehicles from Tesla Motors electric vehicles, such as the e-Golf and Model S is the configuration and capacity of the lithium-on battery pack. Indeed, the […]

Sometimes, materials in bulk sizes exhibit properties totally different than when they are sliced in pieces only a few molecules wide. A news report from the MIT says that prof. Yang Shao-Horn and a team of researchers have discovered how a very thin sheet of a material called "strontium-substituted lanthanum cobalt perovskite," aka LSC, can help solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) produce a lot more electricity from the same amount of fuel.
