The most interesting details were noticed by spy shooters: the car has a charging port on the grille, and the license plate contains the letter “E” at the end. These details mean that we will see soon an electrified version of the next generation Kia Soul.
Similarly to the regular Kia Soul, the electrified version will be equipped with new lights at both, front and rear part of the car. Signature LED lighting strips will be placed below the actual headlights and could extend across the entire nose (according to other spy shots).
Another detail, that allows us to make predictions on what features we will see in the car, is the sensor placed low in the front fascia. Therefore, we can expect to see adaptive cruise control, some other safety features and maybe even the autonomous driving to some extent.
Regarding the characteristics of the electrified Kia Soul, we cannot say a lot, since no information has been provided by the manufacturer. However, there is a good chance that the car will use the same or at least similar powertrain with Hyundai Kona Electric. It means that we can expect the range of about 250 miles (400 km).
The Kia Soul’s latest redesign represents the model’s third iteration. We should see it arrive on the market in 2019 as a 2020 model. The starting price of the electric version will likely come in close to the current model’s $33,145 sticker.
