The second prize, that is. The 25 Hours of Thunderhill near Willows, CA, has hosted 72 cars having different powers, drivers and technologies racing one another.
The race has been run by the National Auto Spot Association and isn’t that famous as the 24 Hours of Le Mans of the 12 Hours of Sebring, but is known among auto manufacturers and racing teams that otherwise compete in the first two.
Usual competitors range from Porsche Carreras and BMW 3-series to smaller models like the CR-Z and the Mazda Miata, who won the 1st prize.
Honda CR-Z hybrid ended up second, after the Miata, but kicked out some more powerful and more famous brands, which proves that hybrids aren’t only for tree huggers, but also for sport-minded people who like the sound of revving engines at smaller costs for them and the environment.
