Currently, other electric vehicles like the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf are taking thousands of dollars off of their sticker prices so it’s not terribly surprising that Mitsubishi has decided to come way down in price, too, to stay competitive.
Mitsubishi has announced that the 2014 i will starts at a price that’s $6,130 less than the outgoing 2012 model. The new, pre-incentive price is $22,995, but if you account for the $7,500 federal tax credit then the price for a brand new EV is basically $15,495.
Making the i-MiEV even more attractive is the fact Mitsubishi has upgraded the interior from previous models. Now the i-MiEV has heated front seats, a CHAdeMO DC quick charge port, a battery warming system, heated side view mirrors, rear door speakers, a charge port lamp, a leather steering wheel, and decorative and cosmetic upgrades, just to name a few.
More than 30,000 Mitsubishi i-MiEV and i-MiEV-based production vehicles have been sold in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Over time, the i-MiEV has proven to be a safe, convenient and reliable ecofriendly form of transportation.
