Sunswift IVy, World's Fastest Solar Powered Car Entering Guiness Book

Achieving a high speed of a little over 88 km/h (54 miles/h), the UNSW's Sunswift IVy, powered only by silicon solar cells significantly topped the previous 1987 record of 79 km/h and was quick to make it into the Guinness World Book of Records.

The Paris Motor Show 2010 presented a lot of electric and hybrid vehicles. These are revolutionary, indeed, but within a certain niche, a certain small, entirely solar-powered car was the most interesting idea of all. Helios IV, as it was named, is the brainchild of the HEI University in Lille, France, and has attended the World Solar Challenge (WSC) six times.

EarthSure, an innovator in alternative energy sources and renewable energy company is planning to develop a zero-emission electric vehicle powered by solar and wind energy. Called AirRay, the new car will be equipped with four wind turbines and a solar roof. All of these to generate necessary electricity to keep the batteries charged up.
