Toyota Preparing to Launch a Cheap Hybrid Vehicle

Toyota has announced that plans to develop a cheaper hybrid vehicle, a competitor for the Insight model which just entered the U.S. market. Toyota officials have revealed that their hybrid will be developed on the current Yaris platform.

Dutch e-Traction Hybrid Bus Has In-Wheel Electric Motors

The diesel charges a battery, and the battery propels the bus for as long as fuel exists in the tank. A dutch company, called e-Traction has developed a new type of hybrid bus. It has the same working principle, but the difference is that the electric motors are embedded in the wheels.

Green Device Detects When Your TV is on Standby and Shuts It

This is for those who often leave their TV sets and other electronics on standby, instead of shutting them down or putting them hibernate. I shamefully count myself among these guys from time to time, but I'm trying to recover.

Greenhouse Gas 4,800x More Potent Than CO2 Thought Safe

In the late 1980s, during the Montreal Protocol that set rules for the chlorofluorocarbon emissions, methyl bromide was about to become a target, to reduce it for saving the ozone layer. So, from a poplar compound used in agriculture, it became an "outlaw".

Butane Fuel Cell, a Viable Solution to Replace Lithium-Ion Batteries

A company called Lilliputian Systems has developed a fuel cell to replace Lithium-Ion Batteries in electronics industry. It will be very interesting to see how science will be able to evolve from this point on as the new fuel cell system that runs on butane cartridges is able to replace heavy laptop and mobile batteries.

75% Efficient Solar Powered Air Conditioning System

Le Lievre, co-founder and former CEO of Ausra, now founder of Chromasun, is planning to launch a very efficient solar powered air conditioning system in the first quarter of 2010.

Save 40% of Water Heating Costs with EcoDrain

The idea behind this energy gadget is simple: every time you take a shower, or wash your hands and, generally, use hot water, you waste a lot of energy down the drain in the form of hot water. That energy is really a big waste, because a lot of energy is put into heating that water.

Toyota MR2 Coming Back With Style and a Hybrid Engine

For almost two years, Toyota went quiet about their FT-HS Concept car which was first presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. All actions were stopped until now, when the need of a new car on the market has increased. FT-HS has a 3.5 litre V6 hybrid engine, and is an environmentally-friendlier sports car.

Room Temperature Cold Fusion Scientifically Proven!

Forget solar power, forget wind, forget any expensive and polluting way of generating energy! Cold fusion is here, people, and it has been scientifically proven to exist at room temperatures, in a simple experimental lab jar.

New Palladium Nanoparticles Making Fuel Cells Better

Nowadays, the cost of a hydrogen fuel cell is mostly increased by the cost of its components, and mostly by platinum. In the search for finding better materials for making fuel cells, researchers have already found alternatives to the expensive platinum a long time ago, but they were not as efficient. One of this substitute materials is palladium - far cheaper and much more abundant, but that didn't have enough surface area to make the fuel cell catalysis efficient.
