frayne Let The Wind Blow: Shawn Frayne's Aeroelastic Electricity Maker

This guy invented a device which uses a simple plastic belt to vibrate from wind blowing and generate a significant amount of electricity for its size. It is 10 times cheaper than regular electricity, more easy to build than a standard wind mill and much, much smaller. The belt vibrates and moves a magnet placed between two coils. As taught in elementary school, it generates electric current. With the device shown in the video he can power a radio, a LED and a wall clock. Interesting idea, don’t you think? That’s why he got the 2007 Breakthrough Award from Popular Mechanics.

Ovidiu has always been a fan of technology and Captain Planet. Unable to ignore the technical possibilities that exist nowadays, he started collecting and blogging about the most interesting news out there and saw that there were a lot of people interested in the same that stuff he was.
