solarcoat Solar Panel Coating to Increase Efficiency up to 6%

When computers appeared, there were people who designed software for them. When illnesses appeared, there were medicines for them. And so on…

Following the same pattern, Xerocoat, a newcomer in the solar industry, has patented a system that will make solar panels better and more efficient. They made a coating for the solar panels so that when covered with it, they receive 3% more light at noon and as much as 6% during early morning and evening hours. So they increase sensibly the solar panels’ efficiency and decrease the cost/watt.photo who we are Solar Panel Coating to Increase Efficiency up to 6%

Tom Hood, chief executive officer and president of XeroCoat, declares: “At XeroCoat, we’re strongly committed to making solar energy more affordable for all today [...] the XeroCoat antireflective coating offers a very simple and cost-effective way to get the most power out of the sun.”

I wonder what happens if you coat the most recent solar panels by Nanosolar, because they are much more efficient than the standard old ones.

MIT Window Coating Collects Solar Energy

MIT researchers have found a way to give your ordinary windows other uses than allow you to look through it. They invented a special coating that can be applied to the window, which in turn transmits the light its edges, to some solar cells. In this way you’ll still be able to see clearly through the window and collect solar energy.

Homemade Solar Panel with Cells Bought from eBay

Today I stumbled upon a web site made by a guy (he’s an astronomer) who did his own very cheap solar panel. He has a remote property in Arizona and there isn’t any power source, so he had to improvise it by himself.

Solar Powered Inflatable Heater

Meet the new invention of the 21st century. It is a solar heater. The basic principle is pretty simple: water is stored in a bed-sized floating bag, which looks like this: The Sun’s light passes through the transparent plastic, heats up the water inside the black tubes, and then it’s passed on to the heating [...]

New Solar Panels: 80% Efficient

A team of scientists from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has been developing a brand new solar energy technology that is about to revolutionize the way we collect and distribute solar energy.

Nanotube Solar Cells Improve Efficiency 10 Times

Nanotechnology seems to help a lot in solar cells improvement. Recent research in solar cell technology shows that a film of carbon nanotubes could replace two of the layers normally used in a solar cell, with improved performance and reduced costs.

Solar panels’ efficiency is constantly improving, thanks to immense technology development efforts that achieve improvement increments of a few percent. Regrettably, mediocre dirt and dust hamper sunlight transmission to the solar cells, and consequently reduce their throughput substantially. Cleaning the panels is a costly operation and therefore cannot be a practical solution. TitanShield SolarCoat is an optimal solution to the problem! This innovative photocatalyst material is sprayed on the surface of the solar panel and will avoid accumulation of dirt. Not only that, due to its special optical characteristics, TitanShield SolarCoat will diminish the loss of solar radiation through the glass of the panel by 5% (by reducing glare and thus reflection from the panel, as well as other losses). TitanShield SolarCoat is inherently a UV radiation mask. This helps to prolong the useful life of the DSSC cells that are susceptible to UV radiation. Once coated, the TitanShield SolarCoat will last and function for the entire lifetime of the solar panel. We offer here a holistic environmentally friendly solution that eliminates the use of water and detergents for cleaning the panels, while saving considerable expenses.
