Portland General Electric and ProLogis have managed to finish what they started in March 2010,  bringing their total solar build-out to 3.5 MW of solar energy.

Atop of 7 ProLogis distribution warehouses in Clackamas, Portland and Gresham were installed 673,000 square-foot panels, producing 2.4 megawatt of solar power.

According to the national Solar Energy Power Association, PGE was ranked among the top 10 owners of solar installations in the western region in 2009. Now, in 2010, they have more than 14.3 MW of solar capacity and more than 10.7 MW of customer-owned solar energy projects.

“Solar is clearly growing in Oregon and our customers are helping drive that. We have seen unprecedented growth of residential and business solar projects in our area over the past two years which, coupled with the growth in solar manufacturing, helps develop more clean, renewable resources for the region and stimulate Oregon’s green economy.”, said PGE’s vice president of customers and economic development, Carol Dillin.

At the end of 2010, PGE expects their percentage of renewable energy will reach 9 percent. The state’s standard of generating 25% renewable energy by 2025 could be easily achieved if the company progresses at the same rate as now.
