I have to say I was very excited when, a month ago, I first saw the news of world’s first diesel hybrid appearing on the market. I was even more surprised when I saw the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 at the Paris Motor Show 2010, cut in half and with an entire set of explanations about the technology behind.

As you can see in the pictures from the gallery below, the battery is contained at the back of the car, providing power for the electric motors driving the rear wheels. The front, on the other hand, is powered by a 2.0L HDi engine, considered to be one of the best diesel engines in Europe in terms of lifetime, cleanliness and consumption.

The engine has an output of 163 hp and the electric motor of 37 hp, with a total torque of 500 Nm, which should satisfy just about anyone.

Watch the few photos I took (sorry for the blurred one) at the show, and then read the more detailed article I wrote in August about the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4.
