Nissan 2012 Leaf 300x205 2012 Nissan Leaf: Fast Charging, Heated Seats, Available to More StatesYesterday, Nissan launched the 2012 model of the Leaf electric sedan and, as company officials claim, it will be available in more states than the current version. The electric car will have more features, including a fast charging mode, a cold-weather package and a higher price tag starting at $35,200.

In the meantime, the 2012 electric Leaf will be available for order in the southeastern United States and Illinois. The upcoming all-electric Leaf will also come in two trim levels. The suggested retail price for the SV trim level is $35,200 and $37,250 for the SL trim level.

According to the company, the SV trim will have fast charging, allowing the vehicle to be charged at 480V. This way, the Leaf’s batteries will get to 80 percent charge in under 30 minutes. Both trims will have the ability to pre-heat the battery and will also feature heated seats.

By the end of this autumn, Nissan plans to launch the Leaf on the markets from seven states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. The company also said that the people who already have reservations can begin to start ordering the car on July 25.

Normally, the new Nissan Leaf is designed for a 100-mile range on a full charge but depending on weather conditions its range varies from 62 miles to 138 miles.

After a study made by Environmental Protection Agency, the Leaf has the best fuel economy rating at 99 miles per gallon (an mpg-equivalent estimate), also being the cheapest per mile to operate.
