Toyota’s flagship hybrid, Prius, has received a new facelift at the beginning of 2012. What has once been world’s first commercially-available hybrid car now received new multimedia systems, but the performance figures stay the same.

The front bumper has been revised, the air intake is now bigger, and the headlights feature daylight-visible LEDs. The rear features redesigned tail lights, while the mirrors enjoy turn lights. Additionally, the color range has been enriched by two new colors: Red Met and Dark Violet Met.

The interior has also been revised, with the central dash featuring new insertions and chromed air vents. If you’re willing to pay more, the material quality will also improve.

However, the engine stays the same in performance, fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. The only vital mechanical element improved in this facelift is the steering, which is said to be more sharp. They also did modifications to the overall body aerodynamics, which should ultimately have an impact on fuel consumption.

The new Toyota Prius facelift will hit European stores until the end of March, at approximately the same price as the old version.
