BMW did a nice thing with its plug-in hybrid that was first presented last year at the Frankfurt Auto Show. It has an acceleration equal to an M3 and a fuel consumption that’s worth the envy of other manufacturers, comparable to Toyota’s Prius.

The Paris Motor Show 2010 presented a lot of electric and hybrid vehicles. These are revolutionary, indeed, but within a certain niche, a certain small, entirely solar-powered car was the most interesting idea of all. Helios IV, as it was named, is the brainchild of the HEI University in Lille, France, and has attended the World Solar Challenge (WSC) six times.

I have to say I was very excited when, a month ago, I first saw the news of world’s first diesel hybrid appearing on the market. I was even more surprised when I saw the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 at the Paris Motor Show 2010, cut in half and with an entire set of explanations about the technology behind.

When I first saw it at this year’s Paris Motor Show, I thought I was looking at something having to do with Steve Jobs, or something called iCar… but it was not like that at all. Renault’s Zoe Preview really is French, and also has a gadget-like touch and feel.
