The Green Optimistic

This is my mom, Mary.

She’s a painter. We have all had a happy life until both her kidneys had failed (December 2003). The first picture is her in the summer of 2003 (notice the change in just 5 years). Since then, it’s nothing but pain and regrets for all the things not done in life. Every time I talk to her on the phone she tells me how horrible it is in the dialysis sessions she attends three times a week (monday, wednesday and friday).

Do you know what dialysis is? The dialysis machine extracts all the blood from my mother’s veins, passes it through a filter, extracts and inserts certain chemicals into it, and then it pours the cleaner blood back into her body.

Imagine her kidneys aren’t able to process anything anymore. Imagine two needles being stuck into your hands three days a week, four hours a day, that is 12 hours a week! Half a day!

I want to use greenoptimistic.com, otherwise full of interesting green energy facts, to help my mother, because that’s the only mass communication form I have. I did not create this blog for this purpose, but seeing the traffic it does daily, it came to me the idea I could do that much for my mom, who loves me and raised me. She’s perfect to me, you know? She’s the perfect mom!

I want as many people as possible to see this page, and, if among them, there’s someone able to do the most wonderful thing in their life, has the money, and wants to save her from the slow but sure decline (did I mention she’s 52?), and help her live another 20 or 30 years, please say something!

IT’S NOT A SCAM! I only want to help my mother regain her happiness and let her get away from home for more than 2 days! She doesn’t have much autonomy, she’s like trapped there, balancing between home and hospital. Or, if you want to donate a kidney, that’s also great (compatibility tests have to be made). We’ll have to find someone who can give the money, first (but it’s good to know who to call in case this miracle happens).
