Holographic Solar Panels – Cheaper and More Efficient

Solar_Bankers_PanelsApollo Shipping GmbH & Co. KG, from Dresden, and Solar Bankers LLC, which is based in Arizona, have banded together to develop a silicon-based solar panel with a holographic foil that is twice as efficient as typical models.

Apollo and Solar Bankers said that instead of the typical 17% efficiency of other panels, their solar modules achieve 28% efficiency by using silicon solar panels instead of the conventional panels that employ gallium arsenide cells.

Most of the solar panels currently on the market currently use gallium arsenide cells that are efficient and can achieve 42% efficiency. However, in actuality, most of the manufactured panels only achieve 10% to 20% efficiency.

Silicon, the second-most abundant element in the world has long been overlooked, despite the fact it is inexpensive and plentiful. Less silicon than gallium arsenide can be used to generate the same amount of power and a silicon panel needs only a fraction of the semiconductor material while the performance per square meter of the module surface is twice as high as PVs.

By using advanced concentrated photovoltaic module development, which essentially means using light selection, deflection and concentration they bypass the pitfalls that normally plague photovoltaic technologies.

These panels are inexpensive and do not have to be manufactured in China, as many companies do with their solar panels in order to keep costs low.
