Renault Electric Vehicles Top Sales in 2015

Renault electric vehicles have pulled in big numbers in 2015.Renault has risen to the top in Europe.

Renault electric vehicles are surging in the market — the automaker is now the top performer on the continent when it comes to electric vehicles, taking a market share of 23.6%.

In 2015, 23,086 units were registered, which is a 49% increase from the previous year. Twenty percent of electric cars sold in Europe was a Renault Z.E. vehicle.

The current product assortment includes the Kangoo Z.E., launched in 2011, the Twizy, offered in 2012, and the Zoe, released in 2013. The Kangoo Z.E.is an electric offering of Renault’s light commercial vehicle (LCV.) The Twizy is a two-seater quadricycle, and the Zoe is a compact hatchback.

In all, the electric vehicle market in Europe is made up of 97,786 units, which is a 47.8% increase from 2014. Electric vehicles represent 0.61% of all vehicles on the continent.

When it comes to Renault electric vehicles, the Zoe model is the best-selling fully electric passenger car, its market share increasing by 2.2% to 19.2% last year. This represented 18,453 new registrations.

The Kangoo Z.E. is the leader in the electric LVC category, with 4,325 vehicles sold in 2015. This figure accounts for 42.6 percent of the fully electric LCV market.

The manufacturer has sold the most electric vehicles between 2010 and 2015, with a record of 62,228 units sold. 2010 was the year the first electric vehicle was launched in Europe.

Not to be forgotten, the Twizy has sold 16,331 units since its debut.

For Renault electric vehicles’ performance in the United Kingdom alone, sales of the Zoe were up by 102 percent in 2015, clocking in at 2,053 vehicles. This outpaces the entire UK electric vehicle market, which saw an increase of 48% in 2014. Zoe is the second best-seller in the fully electric vehicle category in the United Kingdom, as it accounts for one in five vehicles sold.
