Often seen as having the closest resemblance with the Iron Man, Elon Musk has brought Paypal, Tesla Motors, SpaceX and SolarCity to their best, and now, in the middle of a financial crisis, is trying to make his deal with Toyota work, and have the first electric car designed by both on the market as soon as possible. The fact is that Tesla will deliver two working electric car prototypes to Toyota by the end of this month.

The two prototypes will be based on Toyota bodies and will have the electric motors from Tesla. “Toyota and Tesla engineering teams have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time and it is exciting to start seeing some initial results,” Tesla Chief Technology Officer JB Straubel said in a statement, quoted by CNN.

We don’t know as of now if Toyota will implement a commercial electric car very soon, as they still plan to put money in the 2011 plug-in Prius, but that’s a hybrid, and it will probably remain so for a long while. Starting with the following version, the Prius may have Tesla technology embedded and a higher EV mode range, and the trend could eventually lead to the manufacturing of a totally electric car by the Japanese car giant.
