Toyota Motors Corporation in Chicago, officially announced their return to Super Bowl ads, featuring their 2016 version of the Prius.
It was noted, that the Hybrid car laid low with the ads for a quite awhile, but just made their successful comeback, recently. Their previous ads for Prius, was in 2005.
The ads was shoot in Los Angeles and Chicago, by Saatchi & Saatchi agency with a humorous theme other than sharing the car’s details. It seems deliberate though, perhaps, to tease the public with its redesigned features.
The spot ran 60 second and was shown during the two-minute warning in the first half.
The marketing aimed a massive audience of the super bowl. This is to excite their interest for the new version of Prius designed for 2016.
Jack Hollis, group vice president for marketing at Toyota Motor Sales USA, said, “The vehicle that revolutionized the way that Americans look at hybrids and came of age with the entire American public watching, is certainly deserving of this grand stage to unveil its next generation model to our guests throughout the country.” He also made a statement to New York Times assuring that the ads in the Super Bowl will be “funny” with out any celebrity, unlike the previous years.
Prius was introduced to the consumer, last November of 2015 where in, the car sold about 3.5 million already to date
According to Toyota, the new 2016 Prius will be longer and wider than the former version, offering comfortable spacious interior.
On the November 2015 release of fuel economy rating, the said vehicle is at its best, 54 miles per gallon driving in the city and 50 miles per gallon on the highway which is quite remarkable comparably to other hybrids.
Aside from Toyota, other companies like Hyundai, Honda, Acura, Kia, Mini and Buick also confirmed to the Super Bowl’s 50 ads. On the other hand, Lexus, which is also owned by Toyota, confirmed to Ad Age, it did not have plan to join the group at the Super Bowl.
