Peugeot came to the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show with a hybrid concept called HX1. The vehicle has a futuristic shape, which is said to indicate the company’s future design line.

Regarding the powertrain, the Peugeot HX1 uses the HYbrid4 technology also used in the 3008 Hybrid4 presented last year in Paris. The four-wheel drive combines a 2.2 liter HDi diesel engine (150 kW / 201 HP), which spins the front wheels and an electric motor of 70 kW / 95 hp for the rear.

The vehicle is capable of generating a total power of around 220 kW / 295 hp. In pure electric mode, the HX1 hybrid has a range of up to 18.6 miles (30 km) and a combined fuel consumption of 73.4 mpg (3.2 liters / 100 km) while CO2 emissions are 83 grams / km.

According to Peugeot, the new HX1 hybrid car will also be equipped with plug-in functionality, meaning that the lithium-ion batteries can be recharged by a standard 240-volt electric socket.
