Despite the vast amount of cuisine being made around the world, the one thing that they all have in common is the use of salt for seasoning.
According to a study directed by East China Normal University, plastic waste is becoming a severe problem and is impacting our sea salt quality.
With there being a tremendous amount of plastic wastage in the Pacific Ocean, researchers did anticipate there being some traces of plastic in sea salt. But what they did not expect was the colossal amounts of plastic particles found in the salt samples taken from the Pacific Ocean.
Plastic wastage has become an epidemic in the world today. Experts suggest that similar discoveries would be found in the salt of any salt manufacturing country; therefore the issue is much greater than China alone.
The bottom line is that we as humans have a responsibility to take care of our planet. Tackling the plastic wastage epidemic would be a great start.
