electric-scooterAlthough electric scooters are already on the market, they are rather slow and expensive. Sufat, a Vietnamese company is planning to produce a new electric scooter, able to easily drive 55 miles per hour and accelerating from 0 to 50 mph in less than 10 seconds.

Compared to the existing products, this is very fast. Sufat chose the engine invented by KLD Energy Technologies to get this performance. The engine will  be mounted in the hub, so no transmission is needed and you don’t lose power from the engine to the propelling wheel.

Achieving this performance is only possible due to the innovative nano-crystalline composite material that conducts energy more efficiently than traditional, iron-core motors.

The company is planning to produce 50,000 units in the first year in its Hanoi facility, in Vietnam. The production should start in the fourth quarter of 2009.
