Elon Musk and Tesla have had difficulty meeting mass production goals so far for 2018. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk tweeted on Tuesday that two car color options will be eliminated to streamline its production of electric cars.

Tesla vehicles will no longer be available in Obsidian Black & Metallic Silver. These are two car colors will only be available by special request and at a higher price.

The five car color options that are still available are solid black, midnight silver metallic, deep blue metallic, pearl-white multi-coat, and red multi-coat.

Since the announcement by Elon Musk on Twitter, shares of Tesla fell by 2 percent before the bell on Tuesday. Analysts are concerned that ditching the car color options will not be the last action to simplify car production. Tesla has no experience with mass production and has a lot to learn as they streamline their operations.

However, experts have mixed opinions regarding Tesla’s ability to mass produce their electric cars. Before this announcement, two brokerages had said that Tesla could meet its production targets for the second half of the year.

Tesla’s ability to streamline and overcome these production hurdles would make the more affordable Model 3 sedan available to the American middle-class. This is the next step for Tesla to become as popular as the Detroit-based automobile manufactures including General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and Fiat Chrysler.
