Tesla Model 3 exploded the market and easily entered the Top 10 list of best selling cars in the USA, taking the 7th place.
Just to make it clear, Tesla is just delivering the cars that were pre-ordered. Last month, Tesla has delivered 14,250 Model 3s, compared to 30 cars sold in June 2018. It places the car in the seventh place of the top-selling passenger car list. If we take into account all types of vehicles, the Tesla Model 3 will be ranked 20th in America for July. However, it can be placed one or two positions lower, since we do not know GM’s sales since it reports its sales quarterly.
If you wonder which cars sold better last month, here they are: Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Sentra, and Nissan Altima.
It is not strange at all that Tesla Model 3 is this popular and sells that well. It is what people wanted for a long time: a premium-quality electric car that has long range, fast charging, great performance and astonishing design for under $50,000. Additionally, you can add even more performance and Autopilot features.
By now, the company has manufactured 58,645 Model 3 vehicles, at a current rate of about 4,280 a week. Last month it succeeded to achieve the 5,000 per week milestone, but it was due to the boosted production which cannot happen that often. Tesla set a new goal to hit 6,000 per week by the end of August.
In August, deliveries should be even higher, potentially moving the car into the 6th or optimistically 5th position on the best selling cars lists. Tesla has not even started building their $35,000 Model 3, which will definitely boost the company’s sales numbers.
