Honda Motor Corp. will introduce its long expected low-cost hybrid model at the Auto Show from Paris next month. The Japanese auto maker announced that the car will be launched on the market at the beginning of next year.

The hatchback hybrid with five doors and five seats will be called Insight. Honda announced that they want to sell 200,000 Insight hybrids annually, half of them in North America. The car, worth $18,500, will be sold in Japan and Europe starting next spring.

Currently, Honda sells a single hybrid model on the market, the Civic. In the first seven months of this year, Civic sales have increased by 27% globally, with over 39,000 units sold. The Toyota competitor sold over 280,000 hybrids in the same period, recording an increase of 8%.

The Auto Show from Paris will take place between 2 and 19 October.
